Bio

I did my undergrad at the University of Canterbury. I went in intending to study computer science (and ended up doing most of a computer science major), but came out of it with a double major in Mathematics and Physics. I did an honours year in Mathematical Physics, mostly doing theoretical work. After this I did a PhD with David Wiltshire, with more of a computational and numerical focus.

Working on

Systems programming. I like lower-level languages.

Numerical relativity, inhomogeneous cosmology.

Data science, mostly in python.

Personal Life

Personal life

I've lived in Christchurch my whole adult life, though I spent my childhood in North Canterbury. I live in the eastern suburbs with my wife, our two children, and my wife's various animals. I spend a lot of time on the West Coast, where a lot of our extended family lives.

Currently learning...

Learning a bit more Rust. Learning some more Vulkan/SDL3_GPU. Reading a book about distributed systems.

About this site

I'm not a web developer. This site is all static HTML/CSS without any special frameworks or anything. Mostly the HTML/CSS was generated by Codex, which is good enough at that sort of thing that all of the issues (such as the desgin) are my fault. The text of the site is all human-written, so all inaccuracies are mine also.
